I complement you on your work. I have also been aware of the story of Jeanne and have a few questions. First, do you know the surname used by Jean Baptiste or wife Charlotte. Second, do you know the surname of Alexandre, son of Nanette and brother of Marianne (wife of Bello)? By the way, I can't put my finger on the the notes of mine, but I believe that Alexandre was freed in 1815 by Bello from, I believe, Jean Livaudais. I have not personally reviewed the emancipation record however.

Finally, you mention Jeanne living in Opelousas in 1800 with relative and quote some document about her at the time of her death. As a matter of general curiousity, what did you use (census record or whatever) to peg Jeanne's whereabouts in 1800 and what document was that quote from.

My interest stems from the fact that my ancestors flow from the Bello/Marianne marriage. Again, thank you for sharing.
