===================================================================== House of Deréon is a high end prêt-à-porter fashion line introduced by Beyoncé Knowles and her mother Tina Knowles. The style and concept is inspired by three generations of women and the name was inspired by Beyoncé's grandmother, Agnèz Deréon. Beyoncé and her sister Solange Knowles launched the sister line Deréon that is geared towards the younger consumer, and is supposed to be more reasonably priced. Beyoncé and Solange are models for both clothing lines and are featured on most marketing campaigns. House of Deréon clothing was first mentioned to the media in September of 2004, by fashion partners Tina and Beyonce Knowles. The two told anticipating minds that the name of Beyonce's women's fashion collection would be House of Deréon. This line was first introduced on The Oprah Winfrey Show, and was also featured on The Tyra Banks Show. It is reported that Beyoncé has an active role in the House of Deréon's design department, actively approving and discussing fashion designs and ideas. Beyoncé’s fashion line is criticised by PETA because it contains fur. This is because Beyoncé and her mother Tina source fur from China, where dog and cat fur is often mislabelled as other species. It is also often obtained by skinning the animal alive and conscious. About Agnèz Deréon Agnèz Deréon, later Agnèz Beyincé (1924 – 1984) was a French Créole Louisiana native[citation needed] whose surname and passion for creating beauty[citation needed] from the mundane is the inspiration[citation needed] for the clothing line House of Deréon, a fashion line founded by her daughter Tina Knowles, and granddaughter Beyoncé Knowles. Agnèz Deréon (actually born Agnès DeRouen), (pronounced dare-ay-on or duh-RAHN) was born 1 Jul 1909 in Delcambre/New Iberia, Louisiana, the daughter of Eugène DeRouen and Odilia Broussard. Self-taught, she became a well known[citation needed] professional seamstress catering to private clients in Louisiana. She was accustomed[citation needed] to tailoring[citation needed] pieces that stood out by decorating the fabrics she used with such embellishments as embroidery. Incorporating materials such as lace, beads and jeweled buttons, were just some of the ingredients that Deréon used to make her style unique[citation needed] and her own. Deréon later married Lumas Beyincé of Abbéville, Louisiana, the son of Alexandre Beyincé and Marie Olivier. The couple relocated to Galveston, Texas where they raised their family (some of the Beyoncé relatives still live in Galveston). Both Beyincé and her husband were of French-speaking Creole (or French Creole) descent; having African, French, Amerindian, Spanish and Indian ancestries. The Beyincé were a poor, yet upwardly mobile family.[citation needed] The couple made many sacrifices[citation needed] to see that their children matriculated through private school and received a proper education. The Beyincé were very devoted to their children and encouraged their involvement in the arts. Among the couple's posterity are a daughter,Tina Knowles, and a son (name unknown; he is Angela Beyincé's father). Their grandchildren are Beyoncé Knowles and Solange Knowles, Angela Beyincé and great-grandson Daniel Juelz Smith Jr. Beyoncé's first name is a tribute to the Beyincé family name [1]. The rare surname, Boyancé, is of French origin and faces extinction since there are no male descendants in Tina Knowles' immediate family to pass on. The Boyancé family is still prominent in Iberia, Vermillion and Lafayette Parishes today Derouen, Odlia Broussard March 31, 1929.....Iberia Parish Louisiana Archives Deaths File contributed for use in USGenWeb Archives by:
