Denise, Thank you for sharing the reference to Charles Lucas. I'd searched the Loudoun PPTLs 1782-1850 and found Charles Lucas (free Negro)& son in 1811 and with 3 sons in 1812...then no Charles Lucas in Loudoun until 1833, 1835 and 1837. I believe my Charles Lucas migrated into Ohio Co. VA (based on an 1820 census record of him & two sons we've confirmed (William & James) - then I don't find him again in Ohio Co. I had assumed he had passed away, but perhaps he ret'd to Loudoun (& that's him in 1833, 1835, and 1837) boarding at some point with the Thompson family - or it could be his son Charles Jr. Thanks again, Kim
