Re: JONES, HARGRAVE,LUCAS
In Response To: Re: JONES, HARGRAVE,LUCAS ()

Hi Kim
There is an interesting short mention of a Lucas family in a Loudoun history, Essence of a People II, in a bio of Samuel Thompson 1812-1872 by Elaine E Thompson:

"Achieving this status was not an easy feat. Between 1820 and 1830, Samuel married Midey, another free black. With help from their extended family, they prospered. Thompson worked his own farm, producing marketable grains, raising livestock, and buying and selling land for profit. He, and later his son and grandson, worked as day laborers on neighboring farms. Living with the Thompsons as boarders was a free couple, Charles and Delia Lucas, who added to the family's income."
