In researching my Dyson family, who were free blacks in Anne Arundel County, Maryland, a female child was listed with the first name Aohsah in the 1832 census. I am interested in learning the origin of the name. It may be phonetically spelled and pronounced like,"a-oh-sah". Any help is appreciated.
