Re: Shorter Family,MD
In Response To: Re: Shorter Family,MD ()
According to the 1900's census Richard was born February 1850 in Maryland. I did locate a Richard Shorter death notice in 1903 but I haven't been to purchase his death certificate yet. Richard & Laura also had a daughter named Kitty Ann who was born in Maryland. She appeared on the 1880's census at the age of 6.
As for the Young's, they are also located on the 1870's census living in Surratts but I couldn't find them before that. A g-g-son of James & Caroline's son William contacted me. His wife was also doing some research on them, but I haven't been in touch with them in a while. She informed that the Young's may be connected to an Indian tribe, but which one she wasn't for sure. She also told me that Caroline Young maiden name was Brooks.
Richard & Laura were married on Dec. 24, 1872 in Prince George's County. Richard's brother George was married, but when trying to locate his wife I found 2 George's so I am not sure which one could be his. I also know that his brother Charles remained in the house on Spring St. Road between 1880-1890. He worked as an upholster.
