I am hoping the Afrigeneas Family can help out with this...
I recently made the wonderful discovery of whom my gggg-grandmother's parents were. There names are listed on her death certificate were James and Diana Bigraph.
I subsequently found the family on the 1850 US Census listed as William and Dinah Bigraff. My great cousin actually meet my gggg-grandmother (she was his gg-grandmother) and my ggggg-grandmother as a child (both ladies lived well into their mid to late 90s) and he confirmed that the family name was Bigraff or Bigraph.
It seems that the spelling changed over time. My problem is that I can not find that surname any where after 1890 -- I have check other sites and just for the heck of it, I have check phone directories to see if there were any current listing for families with this particular surname.
Degraff is a surname that I have found, but nothing on Bigraff of Begraff. Does anyone have any suggestions or may have seen this name during their travels? The family (so far) is from NY.
Andrea
PS. This post ties in with my Rhoda Robb post several days ago. Thanks again.
