A while back we discussed Venus Fuller...well I found some information that states that on 12/17/1800 Richard Green purchase a mulatto woman named Venus from John Macauslan for the sum of 350 Spanished milled dollars then on 12/18/1800 he frees her in New Hanover County Court....Richard Green is connected to the Amelia Green family of Craven County, New Bern, NC. My suggestion is that you look at some New hanover county records...because seems as though there is a connection betweenl the Greens, Stanly (black & white) in terms of African Americans in our area being freed earlier than 1863...
