Joel House: Cabarrus County, NC

I am looking at the census of 1840 and in the 1840 census of Cabarrus County, N.C. there is a free person of color by the name of Joel House who may be about twenty years of age. Some of the allied white surnames are those of Fehgert, Bost. Anyway, as I look further and I am in the 1850 and 1860 Cabarrus County census there is Joel House, mulatto, carpenter(actually it says laborer), and he is not a slave but looks very much free, and appears with a friend named Andrew Reed on the same household as that of a white farmer named John Faggert, and his family. Elsewhere in the 1860 census Joel House has an estate value of $120.00 Later, in 1870 census of Rowan County, N.C. Keziah House age 47, pops up with her sons. When I received marriage or bond certificates on her sons, I see Joel and Keziah House as the parents. Such as: when son Josiah House married Elizabeth Shad of Rowan County, N.C. it reveals Josiah, son of Joel and Keziah House. My point is that I am trying to really make sure that Joel of 1840 is the same Joel on other records I have come across. Joseph
