The following entries come from the "Douglas Register" kept by Rev. William Douglas of Goochland and Louisa Co., VA. He kept a listing of births, deaths, and marriages in his parish, and also recorded a few colored, negro, mulatto, and slave births. The following are individuals who are either listed as "free" or who are not identified as slaves in the Douglas Register:

Ruth Mathews, a free Mullattoe, a daughter born October 1748 named Elizabeth, bap. Mar 7 1756

Lucy Howel, a free Mullattoe, a daughter born Jun 10 1755 named Judah.

Ja [James?] Mathews, a negro, and Susannah Ford, white, a son named Richardson born Apr 17 1760

William Lansford and Elizabeth Scott, Mulattoes, a daughter named Milley born May 28 1762

Negroe Ben and Molly Cockran a daughter named Betsy born Oct 31 1765

Negroe Frankly, a free woman, a girl named Lucy Barnet born Jun 13 1778

Betty Colo-fflemings, a Negro wench, had a daughter born Aug 1748 named Phillis
