My line of GREENs are as follows, all lived Warren Co.,NC, who had been former slaves of Samuel WILLIAMS, and were freed in his 1791 will,authorized in 1798 by the NC General Assembly:

Crease GREEN, b; abt 1745/d; 1820-1830 Warren Co.
son: Thomas GREEN, b. abt 1760 Edgecombe Co./d: 1850 Warren Co.

wife: Priscilla GREEN, b. abt.1760/d: 1850-1860 Warren Co.

children: Allen, Charity, Breny, William, Lucretia, Samuel(?),Priscilla, Mary Polly, Elizabeth, Lucy, and Nancy GREEN.

William GREEN, b.abt 1786 Warren Co./d:1867 Warren Co., (son of THOMAS & PRISCILLA GREEN), was my 3rd ggrandfather. He was married on Dec. 14, 1841,Warren Co. to Mary Polly GREEN, b;1825, the daughter of James GREEN & Nancy EVANS. (James GREEN was a former slave of John C. GREEN of Warren Co., who was freed around 1825) Their children were:

James Thomas, William Alexander, Pilate, Priscilla, Sarah, Betsy, Emily, Harriet, Molly Amanda, Charles, and 2 unknown children (1 female listed as "C" born 1857, 1 male born 1858 listed as "J",GREEN.

James Thomas GREEN, b.1842/d:1921 Warren Co. (son of WILLIAM & MARY GREEN), was my 2nd ggrandfather, married 1st) on Dec. 19, 1867 to Penina COPELAND, b.1844/ abt 1871 (daughter of Benjamin COPELAND/Frances HAWKINS). They had children:

William (b.1869) and Mary Frances GREEN (b.1871)

married 2nd)in 1879 to Louisa MANLEY (COPELAND = widow of Joseph COPELAND of Halifax Co.,NC) Their children were:

Rose (b.1879) and Edward GREEN (b. 1880)
(Louisa had one child by Joseph COPELAND, Josephine Virginia COPELAND (1867/1906-1910) who married Maryland WEST)

Mary Frances GREEN, b.1871/ d.1899, was my ggrandmother. She married Walter Van SNEED,b. 1852 Granville Co.,/d.1941 Warren Co.NC (son of William Morgan SNEED & NANCY, his slave)
Their children were:
Nannie (my grandmother), Estella, and Georgiana SNEED.
(note: Walter SNEED was married 4 times, with a total of 17 children)

Nannie SNEED (1892/1978) married Robert J.WILLIAMS (1885/1970), my grandparents. They had a total of 10 children.
