Hello,
I am looking for any information on The Brodie Family in South Carolina. Particularly, Violet Brodie b. 1812 on Oakgrove Plantation, Orangeburg County. (Springfield, SC) She had (that I know of) one Mulatto Son. I would safely assume she was a slave considering she was black and born on a plantation. The plantation owner was John Wardlaw Brodie b. 1797. He married Sarah Kitchings. They had 12 children. Violet was listed in the 1870 census as being widowed (58yrs old) and living with her son Alfred J. Brodie and his wife Margaret and their children. There next door neighbors were, Sarah Brodie(Kitchings)(John Brodie's wife) and Judson Brodie (their son). If any one has any information on Violet or her son Alfred,(he was born in 1830) please post.
