Hi James, Genealogy groups/societies in your area, Toledo, Lucas County, Ohio...right? There is a Lucas County Chapter of the Ohio Genealogical Society in Toledo located at 325 N. Michigan St. You might check to see if they have a special interest group (sig) working on African-American Geneaolgy. If they don't have such a group perhaps you could help them canvass the Toledo area to determine if there is an interest. Here is the URL for the Lucas County chapter of the Ohio Genealogical society. http://www.utoledo.edu/~gried/lcogs.htm For membership into the First Family/Pioneer & Civil War lineage societies you need to be a member of the Ohio Genealogical Society
Belonging to the various Genealogy groups and joining their lineage ssocieties MAY be considered somewhat expensive, Cost....that is another discussion Another thought is to join the County genealogy groups where most of your research is centered. Those contact points can probably be found on the USGenWeb Site Hope this helps.....best wishes for continued success in your research. Art Thomas
