This posting may be my line. I recently discovered that my great grandfather Jesse Beatty is listed on some Census as Mulatto, Others he claims he is Portugese. His father on the 1850 Census is listed as Lawson Beatty age 44 born in Virgina which makes him the right age and location. Desperatly trying to sort this out. Would welcome any ideas.
