Re: Cape Verdean
In Response To: Cape Verdian ()

Cape Verde, West Africa, is composed of ten islands and some islets, in the Atlantic Ocean, due west of Senegal, Guinea and Guinea-Bissau on the mainland.
The Islands were used by Senegalese fishermen before the first Europeans arrived about 1456. The Portuguese settlers began to land after 1460 and was a Portuguese possession until the Cape Verdeans gained independence, in 1975 after a revolution in 1974.

There is a large Cape Verdean community in the Boston, Mass. area, primarily in Roxbury, Mass.

The Dudley Street Neighborhood Initiative, in Roxbury, Mass. has many Cape Verdeans as Board members and provides translators at various meetings for the Cape Verdean members. They could direct you to additional information and sources.
Their phone no. is: (617) 442-9670
