In 1999 Vantage Press published a book entitled "Uprooted and Transplanted from Africa to America - Focus on AA in Essex County, VA, Oppressions-Achievements-Contributions The 1600's to 1900's" by Lillan H. McGuire. Ms McGuire is a historian and member of the Essex County Historical Society and probably many others. According to the cover notes, she still lives in the area. It is possible that she could have information on descandants of Pratts in the area. There is mention in the book of one Dr. Robert Pratt, Ph.D, who at the time of the publication of this book was Director of AA Studies at the University of GA in Athens, GA.
