Re: FPOC: 1840 Rappahannock Co., Va.
In Response To: FPOC: 1840 Rappahannock Co., Va. ()
I know this posting is over 10 years old. I was looking for a Robert Fondarey of Adams Co. MS in the Freeman's Bank records over on HeritageQuest. To expand my search, I just keyed in on Robert. I came across a Robert Fitzhugh. I'd seen the surname before. So I'd checked my Freedman's marriage records from Adams Co. MS and there was a Fitzhugh, but it was Sam Fitzhugh. Going over the Freedman's bank record for Robert, I couldn't find any "Sam" listed in his siblings. I checked the next Fitzhugh on the list. John Fitzhugh. Come to find out that John listed more siblings including a 'Sam'. I then did a search for the surname Fitzhugh in Adams Co. MS I came across the 1850 Census with a Nelson Fitzhugh as head of household as "Free Negro" in Adams Co. Listed were all the children including Robert, Sam and John. It appears that Nelson and his wife Agnes were born in Virginia. Could there possibly be a connection between Theodrick Fitzhugh and Nelson Fitzhugh? Messages In This Thread
