Wow. Yes , my Callahams/ Callahans were from Abbeville, SC. I have was wondering if any of them may have been free slaves. I havent had the luck of finding my 4xs greatgrandfather James Callaham born 1855, in any census before 1870. James 2nd wife was named Georgie 1858. Perhaps Jame's father was one of the free slaves.

My Greers seem to all be from Belton, Anderson and Hone Path, not sure if any were found in Abbeville. That would be an interesting find considering nearly all of my lines descend from Abbeville.
