I just looked again at my MTDNA ancestral origins info. Most of my matches are from Croatia and South Africa.Of those tested these show a 2.6 and 2.7 % probably match. The haplogroup is H3. I did some research and found that South Africa was one of the countries that Croatians migrated to. After more reading I discoved the connection to the Croatians and the Croatans of the Lost Colony and other American settlements including the Melungeons. Has anyone else done any research into the early Croatian settlements in America? I'm researching my 3rd greatgrandmother, Louisa UNK born around 1808 in VA. Louisa married Josiah Thomas and the family were considered FPOC in Fauquier County prior to moving to Fayette County, PA.
