First, I must thank Art for giving me tips in the Technology Forum for finding ancestors by County etc. at Ancestry.
I was getting extremely frustrated going through tons of names of people from Ireland when I was doing an exact search for African Americans.

Just in case you have not tried it ~ go now to Ancestry and see the new lay out.

To my surprise and delight, Ancestry has done updates to their 1820,30's and 40's data base.

It spells out clearly the members of the household who are Free.
