I think what they did was combine the submitted corrections with their own transcriptions and use it for their new index pages. It looks like they somehow made decisions between those corrected pages and what they thought it should be, and I don't think they always made the right decisions since some of the ones I've come across in their new indices are absolutely wrong. I've submitted hundreds, if not thousands, of corrections to their census pages over the years, and they would show up in their searches with both their original transcription and what was submitted, but now they don't always show that. More often than not, they chose the ones they thought was right and don't give you the alternative corrected page.
