Yesterday I was at my mom browsing through the Gourmet Magazine and ran across an article on Mama Sugar in East Texas where there are black cowboys and Juneteenth (June 19) is an important holiday and celebrated with all kind of fanfare. It was a great article. Anybody ever hear of sweet potato cobbler. Here is what I was able to find online.

SWEET-POTATO COBBLER
Gourmet, June 2007
Mama Sugar says this dish was common at Juneteenth celebrations years ago but is now seldom seen. It's a homey dessert, substantial and rich with butter and cane syrup, and it deserves a comeback
