Chris: That last sentence of yours, (about researching Mali), brings up a very intersting point. The Kanuri, Mossi, Bambara/Bamana, Manjacks, (and to a lesser degree, the Songhai & Malinke),...are conspicuous by their absents as A-American ethno-affilates connected to the Trans-Atlantic Slave Trade. - Question: Just how did they manage to slip-out-of-the-loop (so to speak). - Were they too strong (militarily) to mess with, were they part of the captive gathering transactors,...or just too crafty (craft=Kraft, German for the concept of Power/Powerful), to get caught, (& cught-up), in the ongoing tribal wars encouraged for slave gathering? -- Enquiring Minds,...On The Coast,...Want To Know: M.J.
