Hello again, cuz,
Being married to a man from West Africa, he and none of his family refer to themselves or define their ethnic group as a tribe. He is Yoruba and I guess in a country of more than 100 million people that one cannot really call 5 million or more people from one ethnic group a tribe anyway. When they refer to others from other cultures they refer to them as Igbo people, Fulani people, Hausa people, etc.
My own questions before preceeding with the DNA is for information. I have already committed myself to participating in the African Ancestry testing with Dr. Kittles, because as genealogists we are interest in specifics.
I have taken an interest in the Haplogroup information that does appear to come from the Family Tree DNA and from the Genographic project, so I will be doing one of those for specific Haplogroup information.
I am curious as to which one gives the most information pertaining to markers and mutations. It's kind of disappointing to learn that Dr. Kittles test does not provide that kind of data.
I understand that Family Tree DNA does that. Do you know if anything is similar with results reported by the National Genographic project?
