Genetic Genealogy - Whose line is it?
While searching for something else, I ran across this which 'may' provide clarity for some people.
Run an ancestor chart for yourself or other proposed test subject. Use the "standard" format.
A Y-chromosome test shows the lineage of the top line of the chart.
A mtDNA test shows the lineage of the bottom line of the chart.
If the person whose lineage you are trying to establish is not in that position on the chart, you have the wrong test subject.
And, now you can see the names of all the ancestors which test results for this person will NOT include.
