Re: Which test is which?

Thanks Toot, I appreciate the link. My question is not necessarily a scientific one, but more one to think about in a social and/or genealogical context. I see the African Ancestry as one that would be of interest to those wishing to know something about at least one ancestor and which part of Africa they stem from. The others I am not sure what they reveal and what the results mean. For example---the DNAPrint analysis. It comes back, I believe, with information in percentages. What do they reflect and what are the benefits of having the percentages. Have members of this forum taken that test and how were the results presented and explained? Family Tree DNA. This is a popular one, often spoken about. How are their results presented and is this the one that provides genetic matches? What do the mathces mean for genealogists? What do the matches mean in general? Does that mean a cousin connection or just a "hey we are from the same place" connection? Is the National Genographic project one that will tell us more than the obvious---our ancestors are from Africa, or does it tell us more than that? I am just curious as to what those who have used the various tests have found. Also have those who have taken one test chosen to take another test to obtain more information as well? I look forward to reading your responses! Thanks. -Angela-
