Hello, My family is thinking about have the DNA testing done. I have 3 brothers and they are the only West Males in the family. Which brother should do the test? All the others are females. Could you tell me the names of the company that African Americans are using and the procedure, costs, etc.

I have white West ancestors in my family. Should we do the Slaveowner West side first? I don't know who my g grandfathers parents were at all. I have my g grandfather's name and birth, no birth or death certificate for him. He first appeared in the 1870 census with a wife and 3 children.. all mulatto. He was born August 1832 and died btw. April 1900 and Jan. 1910. His mother was probably a slave or mistress and white father slave owner.
Or the mother could have been white and had a mulatto child by a slave. In 1860, Lloyd West owned 4 slaves:
1 black, female 35
1 mulatto, male, 25
1 black, male, 21
1 black, male, 14
I am curious if one of these is my G grandfather. And we don't know if they were inherited through the wife's family. Thanks very much. All help is appreciated.
