I agree with Angela that it may be helpful to test with a company that will give you a haplogroup. The National Genographic project is one that does and it costs a little more than $100 with s&h, etc.
One of my mtDNA lineages has matches in two different ethnic groups from African Ancestry, and an acquaintance has a lineage with matches in four different ethnic groups.
You have no way to know, but it could be as simple as a test subject within the San who has one Bantu ancestor. And that person tested within the San would self-identify as San, of course.
This is something like the posting about the "100% European" who has a Sub-Saharan African Haplogroup which could be from centuries ago.
