Hi Diane,

I was just looking at your mutations and the Phylogeography of mtDNA haplogroup L3e. I wish we knew if FTDNA did SNP tests, apparently the "MboI site at position 2349" is what is used to say, "Yes, you're an L3e." Without us knowing that we may be stuck in the L3 (me) or L3* (you) zone.

The article states that 64/66 samples had the MboI 2349 and "exactly one of the following 4 mutations: transitions at 16327, 16320 (you), or 16264, or a transversion at 16265 (me). There don't appear to be any samples with an exact match, but all of those called L3e2a have the 16320 mutation, but then it looks like you need another SNP test to confirm it. All of the L3e2a are negative for MboI site at position 14869.

Anybody know more about RFLP SNP Tests and whether any lab is doing them?

Sonia
