African American DNA Research Forum
I just recieved my Genographic results (y-chromosome);
Haplogroup E3a (M2); common for sub-sahran Africa. I still need to study and learn more about the twelve loci examined and "short tandem repeats".
My next step is to test my Y-chromosome through African Ancestry.
Are the 12 loci examined for National Genegraphic the same as a 12 marker test with say Family Tree dna?
If so, the more markers you test, the closer you can get to your more recent genetic history--more recent than 30,000 years?
