DNA Results/No pattern w/mtDNA/L1 & R1b

I just got my results back. I had both my parents do the test with the National Geographic Project. Now, with my Mom, it said that she belong to the Haplogroup L1. There is no migration pattern, which means that my maternal line did not go anywhere. Not even with the slave trade. It just start and stops in Africa.
Does this mean that the test did not take?
Should I take the test next time to get an accurate reading?

My Dad's sequence is M168, M89, M9, M45, M207, M173, M343 His Haplogroup is R1b. It seems from the history that came along with it, that once out of Africa, my paternal line moved to the Middle East to Asia, Europe and ending in Spain. From reading the markers, my father hardly has any African genes except when leaving Africa.
My greatgrandfather is one line that we have no information on.

Deirdre
