Re: Test Hausa and Bamileke
In Response To: Test Hausa and Bamileke ()
They finally arrived!! Congratulations! We're both connected to present-day groups in Cameroon. Seek for info on the migration patterns of these groups. Though my mtDNA was a match of the Fulani of northern Cameroon, there is compelling information that my maternal ancestor was actually from Nigeria. Branches of the Adamawa Fulani of Nigeria moved into northern Cameroon during the 19th century, after the slave trade. The Hausi also reside in Nigeria. It could be that the Hausi in Cameroon and the Hausa in neighboring Nigeria are one and the same group...just a branch went over into Cameroon.....and perhaps mixed with the Bamileke. Anyway...I'm rambling as usual, but Congrats!
Just out of curiosity, how far back have you traced your direct maternal (mtDNA) lineage? What state?
