Yes, you're so right, this is highly addicting! And exciting! I feel like a detective solving a mystery and I'm the mystery! Yes, I also noticed that DNA Tribes lists AA-Michigan, AA-California, etc. That bugs me too. I'm not paying all this money to find out if there is someone in Michigan who shares my DNA..........I'm trying to get mainly to Africa and then I'm lesser interested in the rest of world.
I'm trying to convince my Mom and Dad to have the mtdna and ydna tests. My brother may have the ydna test as well. So I guess I'll just have to wait for those results. At least from this test I will get some Ethnic Group information, though not specific. Also, I emailed them and asked them if they are going to add many more populations to their database and they said they are in that very process now and that they will announce on their blog when they do. I then asked if at a later date I could resubmit my information to match further with the newer databases that they will add. I'm suspecting a closer match than this test will give me, but something is better than nothing! Thanks for letting me know I can't submit these findings to African Ancestry, but that makes sense since it's not a matrilineal or patrilineal test, but rather looks at the total picture of ancestry. I do like that part too though. As for your other more technical question, I'm soooooooooo not qualified to answer it! I'm just learning as I go! Thanks a bunch!
