The Utoy Cemetery is amongst properties for nomination at the National Registration Board Historic Preservation Division Meeting. The presentations will take place at 254
Washington St. SW; Ground Floor Level Atlanta, GA 30334 (404-656-2840) from 9am-2:15pm on June 10th, 2011.
The Utoy Cemetery Association is responsible for recommending the Cemetery to the Board for nomination to the National Register of Historic sites. The Cemetery has military and medical importance. Graves of African-Americans buried before and after the Abolition of Slavery are an aid to genealogical studies in Fulton County, the United States and globally. The Cemetery is also a source of demographic information reflecting the growth of historic and modern Atlanta.
