African American Cemeteries Forum

Suggested Black History Month project

I am SSG Dorothy Ann Grogan, the granddaughter of the late Rev. John Sidney Grogan and Judy Rice-Grogan of Vinton, Louisiana (Calcasieu Parish). My grandfather John Sidney Grogan pastored at the Morningstar Baptist Church, a few steps from the front steps of his home on Eddy street, until his death.

I am writing to let you know that neither of the two cemeteries that my deceased family members are buried in the Calcasieu Parish are listed in your store of on-line AA cemetery data. The two cemeteries are: EDGERLY CEMETERY and STARK CEMETERY, both located in the Calcasieu Parish.

I am very anxious to correct this fact, so, during my upcoming leave from my military duties here at Fort Hood, Texas I will travel to Vinton and Edgerly to record headstones in both cemeteries. As soon as I return to fort Hood I will contribute the data to the store of on-line AA Cemetery data. Please, please, please notify
me as soon as you receive this message from me at: FAITHWALK33@GATEWAY.

Thank you for the wonderful project/site!!! Thanks for the opportunity to contribute to this wonderful millenium project!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
