Hello Gloria: You didn't say where your ancestors lived in the Carolinas. If it was South Carolina, then an earlier post included below will take you to a book that documents Black Seminoles and slaves who fled to the Bahamas. Also...There were many waves of Native American immigration to the Caribbean. What link does the Bahamas have with Barbados? Depending on the era/time...you didn't say...it may mean a lot. The Bahamas in the colonial Caribbean era was one of the first/gateway/most eastern port for ships from North Amerrica and Africa and Europe. British ships and traders often had "offices" in the Bahamas that were linked to other British islands. Please note that traders from Spanish Florida also had interests throughout the Cariibbean. My suggestion is to survey information about history of the Caribbean and the states that hug the Gulf of Mexico and the southern Atlantic coasts. I would do this before taking a dna test.
