Hello Caribbean Researchers:
The National Endowment for the Humanities Collaborative Research Program and Mount Holyoke College and the Center for Central American Historical Research at the Universidad de Costa Rica have collaborated on a fascinating project entitled, "African Americans and National Identities in Central America."
Those who've posted their criticisms about the scholarship of Afrigeneas' Caribbean Research contributors in other Latin cultural on line groups may bristle at the term "African American." Please don't. The scholars and contributors of this project from North America and Central America are not referring to the folks that brought you basketball and records. Their approach is more enlightened and their vision is more "catholic."
Please click on the url below and read an important chronicle of people of color in Central America. Documented in English and Spanish, "African Americans and National Identities in Central America” include a database, census records, and beautiful paintings that depict the lives of some of our possible ancestors.
