[CUBA] Obama eases restrictions on Cuba
Dear Cuba researchers:
At today's White House press conference, it was announced that President Obama has eased restrictions on travel to Cuba.
This is good news not only for those Americans that want to travel to Cuba, but also for those who are interested in its history, culture and ancestor research.
Although some of Cuba's archives have been researched and published in recent years, there are many more that haven't been accessed.
Your ancestors weren't from Cuba? Well think again. Cuba was the Spanish capitol of the Caribbean for centuries. Planters as far as Virginia (Bruce) had interests or traveled to Cuba. Please remember that the majority of slaves shipped to the Americas went to Brazil and the Caribbean. (Only an estimated 6 to 8 percent came to what we now call the US).
Please read the announcement at the CNN link below.
