I'm not sure if you'll see this since your post was a few years ago, but I thought I'd put the information out there anyway. As you can tell, I am a Swanston. My father is from Trinidad. My grandfather was Rawle Fitzgerald Osborne Swanston and he married Jestina Georgiana Swanston nee Perry. They had 5 sons, Selwyn (my father), Rawle, Keith, George, and Neil. They lived on St. Michael's Road in Tacarigua. So there were other Swanstons in Trinidad during the 60s and I know there are more in the south. I'd loved to compare notes if you'd like. I'm also trying to map out the other part of my family, the Gabays in Jamaica (my mother's family). If you have any suggestions or sources, I'd appreciate it. The genealogy programs out there seem to be good if your family is in the USA or Europe and being first generation American, I don't think they will help me much!
