I was driving to Windsor Canada when I saw a clearing in the trees and at the back of the clearing was a grave marker which stated "Lewis Jackson Born A Slave In Kentucky Died Apr 12 1897 aged 62 yrs." and on the right side it said "Mary Wife of L. Jackson Born A Slave Died June 1, 1896 aged 69 yrs."
Below this stone there were 2 very small stones that had writing i was unable to read.
I know that the underground railroad was fairly nearby and this must have been a prominent family because the stone is taller than I am and I stand 5' 6 1/2".
Does any of this ring a bell for anyone??????
I feel a great need to learn more about this family so any help would be greatly appreciated.
I have pics of the head stones and surrounding area if anyone is interested.
