An amazing website devoted to cataloging the holdings of the National Archives of Canada (NAC) as well as some 500 other archival repositories in Canada, the Canadian Archival Information Network (CAIN) is a treasure trove of sources: www.cain-rcia.ca

Once there, do a keyword search (i.e. "slavery," "black loyalists," etc.) and you'll be amazed with the number and variety of sources found in places you probably have not thought of looking.

This site is free and provides detailed descriptions of each source, as well as a link to the website of the holding archive.
