Georgia, thank for your help with the Mathews/Matthis/Mathis. I have not checked Matthews yet. But I will be looking for that surname, too.

Now I know why I could not find my people in the 1870/1880 Census. The name was Matthis and instead of Mathews or Mathis. My grandpa was born a Mathews and lived as a Mathis until he died.

Art, as for the Bowen, I have looked for Bowen, Boan, Bowne, Bowden for the Bowen children that I was telling you about earlier.

If you all think of any other spellings for these names send me a note. You both have given me incentive to continue looking for other name spellings.
