Re: WILLIAMS, ONEIL, TN
In Response To: Re: WILLIAMS, ONEIL, TN ()
The only criteria Frank Williams meets is his name I'm afraid, and he is of an age to have had a daughter born in 1856. I have nothing else to go on - I only found out the names of Lou's parents when I received her death record - filled out by her daughter. I know nothing else about them - census data on the birthplace of her parents is in conflict as well. Some records say TN others AL.
My grandfathers census records consistantly place his mother's birthplace as TN.
Her marriage record to George Edmondson has no information on her parents - and have not located a marriage record to my gr grandfather John Oliver (I am beginning to doubt that they were married), nor to any of the persons associated with the surnames of her other children (Jones, Thompson).
I did find a John Oliver who served in the Civil War, colored infantry TN and a contest widow for his pension - but NARA did not have the records and am waiting to see if they can be located elsewhere. This may not be my John Oliver - but I am taking a chance, and crossing my fingers.
Unfortunately this is a side of my family I don't know - and have no living relatives that I can find to question.
What makes this more difficult is that I can't locate my grandfather George Oliver, born Nashville in 1875, in 1880 at age 5. There is a possibility that Louise is listed as Louise Williams in Nashville with a young son born 1880 named Ernest Williams (not Jones as he is listed in 1900). If this is she - where my grandfather was is anyone's guess. He winds up in KS with cousins by 1895 and is married in Topeka KS in 1900 census. According to his obit he left TN at age 16 and moved to KS.
