Re: Cezar's wall
In Response To: Re: Cezar's wall ()

Hello,

I would assume from the 1870 census records and others that he was born ca 1835 in NC and that he and Rebecca/Bissey are the same people in all of the records you've collected to this point.

I would also assume Rebecca's maiden name to be Barnett as that is the name given on the earliest record to date (1866) and probably stated by her.

I would however check the Midgett surname in connection to this family. It came up from somewhere. ;)

Best Wishes,
Art

"Many thanks for your feedback! Now, I only need guidance on where to go from here. I feel like I need to make some kind of assumption in order to forward my research before 1860, that either Cezar was a slave, and/or he migrated from another state. (Beaufort County attracted many newly freed persons to settle down).

Also, as per the death certificate of Leah (daughter of Cezar), her mother's maiden name was Midgett and not Barnett, as seen in the cohabitation records. Are these women 2 separate women or transcription error?

Thanks again."
