In Response To: Miranda/Maranda Sanders, Tuscaloosa, AL 1855-1932 ()
Hi, I found something intersting. In my experience when you can't find someone, you start tying to find children, neighbors and other people living in the same household. There is a Angeline Washington living in the household in 1880 with your Maranda Sanders. In 1870 in Tuscaloosa Alabama, I found a Angeline Marrant and her sister Maranda Marrant>> Source Citation: Year: 1870; Census Place: Tuscaloosa, Tuscaloosa, Alabama; Roll: M593_43; Page: 365; Image: 289. Marrant Aaron age 65 born VA (Father I assume)
I could not find any more Marrants in Alabama anywhere. Marrant could have been mispelled in the 1870 census. Could this be a coincidence? Yes it could be. There are some problems with it. For example the Angeline in 1880 is 29 and Angeline in 1870 is already 25, so there is an age difference there. But the 1870 Maranda's age is almost on point with your Maranda of 1880. Also the the name Annie is also the first name of the mother Maranda according to her death certificate. Also in 1900 and 1910, I found Angeline Washington. In 1910, Angeline Washington has a son named Sydney Saunders. I thought that was interesting. Also in 1910, her year of birth is 1858, which makes her 22 in 1880. Also in 1900, she is listed as being born in 1870, which I believe is way off. So, it could be if the Angeline Marrant of 1870 is in fact Angeline Washington then the age of the Angeline Marrant in 1870 is wrong, which would not surprise me. I would check if you can find a marriage record for an Angeline Marrant or any Marrants in Tuscaloosa or an Angeline Washinton. Now Marrant could have been spelled differently. Tony
