Revels of North Carolina
I have not posted for quite a while, so just in case there are new REVELS researchers, I am posting my brick wall: ROWAN REVELS B. 1850 in Cabarrus County and CLAREY REVELS, b. about 1822, lived in Cabarrus County during 1850-1860. Rowan and Clarey are my ancestors.
There were several Revels in Cabarrus County during the 1840-1860 period. Paul Heinegg believes that Hiram Rhoades is the son of the Elias Revell who was listed as a free boy of color in Cabarrus County (although another Revels researcher lists ELIAS, HIRAM and ABSALOM as the sons of Stephen Revels). Also documented in Cabarrus County (I have copy of court record) the indenture of a WILLIAMSON REVELS, 1836 and ALLEN REVELS, free boy of color, 1839 and a court record of E.B. REVEAL, in 1839.
If my REVELS were from this family, it may have been through Elias or Nancy Revels who were living in Cabarrus in 1840. Rowan Revels, indentured to Nelson Blackwelder in 1851 married a Tony Miller. The only Revels/Miller connection that I have found is that in 1886 FREDERICK ERNEST MILLER was the informant at the death of ABSALOM REVELS in Salisbury, Rowan County. Both ELIAS/EB REVELL and ABSALOM REVELS have been documented as part of the FPOC REVELS.
Just a long shot, hoping someone may have info that would help me sort this out.
