Juneteenth, by Ralph Ellison - Recommendation *PIC*
I'm at the beginning stages of beginning to read this book. I know that a challenge lies ahead. This is Ralph Ellison's unfinished novel tome. He died in 1994 before completing it. So it was up to John F. Callahan, Ellison's literary executor, with the blessings of his wife Fanny, to put this 40 year work-in-progress to print.
Begin at the beginning. My wife works for the production company that's producing the Ralph Ellison story for PBS's American Masters series (scheduled for February 2002 airing). I've seen some of the rushes and all I can say is: Wow!
Folks might want to read this and 'Invisible Man' to get ready for what promises to be a major filmic event. You heard it here first at Afrigeneas.com!
Has anyone read this book? Can you offer insights?
Let's discuss this and other books, here, at the Book Club Forum.
It's only the beginning.
