Cain River is one of the best book I've read in a long time. The gritty yet undeniable truthfulness of the book was educational for me on so many levels. I have heard some of the horrific details of what the black people had to endure but Cain River gave me a peek into the mindset of the black american that chose to "pass" in order to make it in the world. It is a real testimony to the undying spirit of hope and survival that the African American has.
