You may well be right.....

but sometimes we assume everyone is ready for the grand reunion, and many times people just aren't, for whatever reason.

I have helped one reconnect with a grandfather who didn't know he existed. At least they had a chance to meet.

In anothrer case an uncle and grandmother refuses to acknowledge the disconnected person --

The old "you can lead a horse to water, but you can't make him drink." holds true.

I recommend letting it rest for a month or three, and then try restablishing contact by mail. And if they don't want contact let it rest a year and try again. At least they will know you are out there and willing.
