adoption search/family heritage

I am searching for family heritage, birth mother and any other family members. I was born in November of 1959 in NYC named Phyllis Lee Williams by my mother. I was placed for adoption at the age of 3 months. According to the agency, mother was 21 yrs old at the time of my birth and the youngest of 4 or 5 sisters. She was in college. Mother was described as 5'4" tall 114 lbs, brown skinned with golden qualities. Also the agency states that all of the sisters wore glasses and were educated.

I am told that mother's parents were originally from the south, her mother was 50 yrs old 5'1" slightly heavier than she was but near the same size, she was working as a domestic at the time. Mother's mother had had several treatments for thyroid condition, she also suffered from high blood pressure. Mother's father was 59 when I was born, he suffered from arthritis but was otherwise in good health. He was working as a laborer/painter at the time. He was 5'8" dark brown complexion. Mother declined the offer of marriage to father because of his level of immaturity and other habits. Father was white, 25 yrs old, 6'3" tall blond hair, blue eyes.

Adoptive parents lived in MD at the time, names of friends/family associated with them include Wilson (MD), Hughes (MD/AL), Washington (PA/SC), Clayton (WVA) and a Dr. Hall in NJ. I have researched Williams and Lees in the south but can find no connections. Mother had possibly 2 sisters who were born by 1930. Agency info may not be entirely correct due to omissions or mis-info.

According the social worker the last time you visited you were very upset and wished you could go home and have a good cry but you had to go back to work, having found a job during the Christmas holiday season in a dept store. You held me tight and gave me several big hugs. The social worker noted that you felt very strongly that a 2 parent family would be better for me. I am now an adult and would like to personally thank you and return the hug. Please contact me at or if you know of mother or her family please contact me. Thank you. When responding please put Phyllis Lee Williams in the subject line.
